It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Francis Capriotti, affectionately known as Joey, who left us on February 8, 2025, at the age of 66.
Joseph was born on August 18, 1958. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he served his country with honor and dedication. He was a man known for his quick wit, infectious humor, and caring nature. Joseph had the remarkable ability to light up any room with his personality and made lasting impressions on all who knew him. He had a deep love for sports and could often be found cheering for his favorite teams, sharing his passion with friends and family.
He is survived by his children Jennifer Capriotti (Michael Veerman), Janelle Dahlin (Paul Dahlin), and his grandchildren Tyler Dahlin, Brianna Dahlin, William Dahlin, and Jacob Veerman. He is also survived by his siblings Karen (John) Book, Gary Capriotti, Diane Scherer, and the late Kathryn (Tim) Harvey. Additionally, Joseph is remembered by his four nephews and four nieces, who brought much joy to his life. He is remembered by his many friends, extended family, and all who were touched by his kindness and laughter.
Joseph’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 10:30 AM. A memorial luncheon will be held following the cemetery service from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 14414 Ford Drive, New Lenox, IL 60451. All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
