Luigi Piccioli Sr passed away peacefully at Lightways Hospice, Joliet, on February 21st at the age of 75. Luigi had been battling Alzheimers for the last 2 years.
Luigi is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Margarita Piccioli, 3 daughters, 1 son, 5 stepdaughters, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 3 sisters and 1 brother in Italy, and many nieces and nephews.
Luigi was born in the village of Caramanico San Vittorinio, Italy. After immigrating to the United States, Luigi worked and retired from Local 75 as a laborer.
Luigi carried on many traditions from Italy, such as by planting an annual garden to share with family, friends, and neighbors, making pasta from scratch, as well as making the best wine. During the summer his garage was always open and he always welcomed everyone that would drop by from friends, and family to the mail man or just anyone that just wanted to listen to some music and have some wine with him.
He traveled to Mexico often to spend time in the home he built with his wife and family there.
Per Luigi’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.
Thank you to everyone that has reached out and has sent out their thoughts and prayers. Luigi will be dearly missed.
