Margaret “Peg” Montgomery (nee Petersen)

Age 76 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 7, 2023, with her family by her side.

Born March 28, 1947, in Joliet, IL, to the late George and Rita (Lord) Petersen. She and her brother, George, were twins.  She was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from St. Francis Academy. Peg married Earl Montgomery and became a stay-at-home mom to raise their three children, except for the time she worked at P.K. Lord Wholesale Meats, the family business.

She is survived by her husband: Earl; her three children: Mary Lee Montgomery, Maggie (Bob) Basile, and Mike (Kristin) Montgomery; grandchildren: Mariel Yonely, Anthony Bentley, Bobby (Jessica) Basile, Brianne (Dalton) Lapikas, and Lexi Basile; her four great-grandchildren, and her brother: George Petersen, as well as two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father: George; her mother: Rita, and her stepfather: Edward Sandal.

She was cremated per her wishes and will be interred at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.  A memorial service will take place on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Crossroads Christian Church in Joliet from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The family expresses extreme gratitude to Arcadia nursing home in Morris and Lightways hospice in Joliet.
