Michael A. Tessone Sr. (Mike), 74, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 6, 2025 at his home in Joliet, IL due to complications from chronic illness.
Mike is survived by his children, Michael (Christina) Tessone Jr., Jennifer (Jacob) Gloodt, Joseph (Kristen) Tessone, former spouse and mother of his children Linda Kosiek, and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Tony (Debbie) Tessone, sisters Lynnette Tessone, Melody (Greg) Saunders, Josette Malkowski, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Georgianna Tessone, and his brothers, Joseph (the late Jennifer) Tessone and Frank (Cheryl) Tessone.
Born in Chicago, IL and raised in Willow Springs, Mike graduated from Argo High School and attended Moraine Valley Community College. He later raised his family in Lockport, IL. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own Michael's Family Restaurant in Willow Springs, and he spent years driving a semi-truck, maintaining golf courses, and running a booth at Montana Charlie's Flea Market.
After relocating to Florida, Mike became an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He brought joy to others by playing the role of Santa Claus with his authentic beard at local events, and found fulfillment through his work with Meals on Wheels and as a night watchman for community parks. He also continued running his flea market booth in Florida.
Mike enjoyed boating, fishing, and riding his Harley. He loved cooking for others and shared his appreciation for good food with his children. A music enthusiast, he especially loved the Beatles and other 1960s-1970s bands. His friendly nature and gift for conversation made him a friend to all, known for his jokes and ability to bring smiles to those around him.
After returning to Illinois to be closer to family, Mike cherished his time surrounded by the love of his children and grandchildren, accompanied by his dear dog Ollie.
Per Mike's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial gathering is planned for close friends and family at a later date.
