Paul R. Drdak, Sr., passed peacefully at the age of 81 on March 16, 2022, in the Minooka home he shared with his wife of 50 years, Phyllis “Diane” (Vath) and his beloved dog, Truffle. Paul was welcomed to the afterlife by his parents, Paul and Lillian (Cervenka), and siblings Robert (Milly) and Patricia (Mike). He will live on in the memories of his children, Lynette (Blair) Olexa, Paul Jr. (Lisa), Seneka, and Morgan (Mike) Mason. Paul was a proud grandfather to Rhett (Rachel), Rachel (Ben), Evan (Katie), Fallon (Jake), Jose, Jazmine, Jocelyn, Austin, and Allison, who will share his stories with great-grandchildren Blair, Solomon, Julian, Esther, Kai, Hobbs, Jonah, Grant, and Marley (pending). Paul also had an extended family, many friends, and grand-dogs he adored.
“Captain Paul,” as he was known to friends, had a passion for helping others. He put this passion to work during his time as a member of the Will County Board in the 1990s, and during his career as an investigator for the Will County Public Defender’s Office. Paul was a champion for the underdog and always offered a hand to anyone in need. He was also the life of any party he attended, making memories with whomever he met.
A celebration of Paul’s rich life will be held at his home-away-from-home, The Office Bar & Grill in Minooka, on Saturday, March 26 from 1 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the organization that rescued his dog, Truffle: Polo’s Refuge (polosrefuge.org).
